Kind of a dull boring week. I will soon need a boat for my yard though.

I haven't done much this week other than fondly try to remember what sunshine was.  This was taken before the storms yesterday, but my driveway (and front yard) is turning into a pond.

I think my creek is probably moving more water than the Colorado river right now, though it is kind of hard to tell in this picture.

It is so wet I have mystery mushrooms growing I have never seen on my lot before.

I did walk around a bit on Wednesday.  I peered in the back door and found out why they couldn't delete the wall next to the furnace; the drawing of the house I got was incorrect and the hookups for the laundry were on that wall instead of the side wall to the left of the picture.

I found a couple of other things while I was trying to get around to the back door to peer in without sinking into the swamp...  err yard.  The first was one of the tie downs from the old slab.  The dirt it was buried with had washed away.  It looks a bit wimpier than I would have expected.

I also found this over by the power pole.  It looks like a cable clamp, but I don't know why they left it.  I am guessing they dropped it, and rather than find it they just grabbed another one.  Fortunately I haven't mowed, since my yard is soup.  This would have done bad things to the blades.

Earlier in the week it was quite hot (and there was a record like one hour of sunshine).  I found out that apparently the cheapo bottles of mouthwash can't handle heat.  Those weird marks at the top were where the bottle was melting.  It didn't explode though.

I also had to turn on the fan at night.  The jackery didn't seem to mind, but I did have to bring it in and charge it this week.  It ran the fan all night, and didn't drain it too much.  It would run the fan for two nights without issue.  Despite that being a big fan.

Today must have been Wildlife Stand in the Road Day.  I  ran across two deer that stared at me on my way in today, and two separate packs of turkeys that didn't understand that truck=roadkill.  The second group of turkeys didn't even move when I hit the horn.  There was even a deer wandering the parking lot at work too.

Still no word on when they can assemble the house, though I expected as much given the weather.  There is a small window next week where the chance of rain is low.  Next week though the heat returns, which I am not looking forward to.  I am hoping they can squeeze me into that window, but I am not sure if they have completed the previous house yet, which was also waiting on nicer weather.

Big check delivered.

Things have been pretty quiet this week.  They finished up the asbestos abatement early, so I got back to my desk on Thursday.  As nice as the area out front is, it is far more convenient to have my normal work computer around and a microwave that doesn't sound like it is going to explode at any moment.

The bank came out Wednesday for an inspection (required for disbursements).  I have a new sign out front.

I also paid for the house.  There is still a little bit left on the FineLine contract, but they don't get that until after they have assembled it, put on the skirting, and so on.  It is definitely the largest check I have ever signed ($118k; as the GC, I have to sign the disbursement checks).

While I was there, I talked with manager, and he said they might try to get to my place early next week if they could (but wasn't confident), while the place they are currently working on gets the rest of the materials delivered (their current project is a weird not triple wide but three piece place, the third piece is a second floor on the other two), but he mentioned that they also have another house being delivered next week.  He said buttoning up my place should only take 3-4 days, but as noted before is weather dependent.  Right now the weather for next week looks awful, and the ten day makes it look like it will be after the 4th.

I haven't done much over the weekend.  I was originally planning to move the tiny home this weekend over to the other side of the driveway, but concluded it was still too soft and I kind of want my truck fixed first. I did notice something this morning as I went to head into town though.  I wonder if those brown streaks are just ran dripping off the roof. It seems that my overhang is inadequate for the slope that the house is currently sitting on.

The house has arrived.

Today was house arriving day. The crew showed up pretty early, around 9AM.  This is the Platypus that they used to put it in place.

The back side came in first as expected.  They came in from the opposite direction than expected though.

Courtesy of the rain every day for the past couple of weeks, the truck immediately got stuck when it got off the side of the driveway, so they had to use the Platypus the whole way up. I got some action shots.

The back.  They fixed the torn plastic before bringing up the front half.

Mostly because of this.  It stayed dry though.

The guy driving the front half wasn't very good at backing it in.  He hit the tiny home and scraped a little paint off.  Fortunately nothing on the new home got damaged.  They ended up using the playtpus to fix his inability to back it in like the first guy was able to.

Bringing up the front.

The front is now in place too.

I took some videos of the front side being put in place.

As an added bonus, since the crew arrived before the house, they took the platypus and ripped out the stumps in the front yard.

They were done by the end of lunch.  I took the whole day off, so I took a short nap and then took my tractor out and did a little bit of smoothing in the driveway.  It got a little chewed up.

I also peeked inside. The living room.

The third bedroom.

The other bedroom.

The kitchen.

The master bedroom.  I couldn't get a peek into the master bath, the window was covered with plastic.  I am not sure why there are three doors here, there are only two doorways.

I talked with the guy (the guy with the platypus runs the crew that assembles them), and he said it was possible that they would get to my place late next week, but it is more likely the week of the 4th.  They need nice weather to assemble the houses (otherwise you leave the attic exposed to rain for possibly hours on end), and that has been in short supply this year, so they are a bit behind.  He did confirm that I am next in line after the house they are currently trying to get done.

Some progress while I was away.

I went out and visited and and uncle last weekend.  I was chasing some storms on the way back, and had a nice tail wind.  26.6mpg is abnormally good for this truck.

Apparently Friday after I left the power company finally showed up.  I now have a transformer and the meter is moved.

It kind of looks like they used the guide wire as a grounding wire.  I guess it makes sense (it is a large metal rod that has be buried in a ways), but I thought grounding rods had to be copper.  The line across the picture right above my finger is a copper wire.

Interestingly, they didn't remove the old pole or meter box.  I was under the impression that they owned the meter box, but I own the circuit panel beneath it.  I could be wrong though.  They still haven't picked up the pole they left in the ditch either.

It rained a lot over the weekend.  Looks like several inches.  There was quite a bit of washout in the driveway.

The guy made it look nice, but the back yard still puddles.  It did this before he started though, so it isn't a degradation.  I was hoping with the new grade he put in that it would run off better.

On the side though, it is definitely better.  This used to be a pond in the spring.

One thing that kind of bugs me a bit is that his grass is already sprouting.

I seeded this twice last fall and nothing.

Despite the lackluster surfacing on the slab, there was only one puddle on it.  The rest was dry.  I am not entirely sure when it rained while I was out, but it was a good sign.

Something I noticed on the house: there are weird brown streaks showing up.  Not sure what they are.

It is going to be a busy week.  I go up to get my truck fixed tomorrow, and the house gets delivered tomorrow.  I did get to see a pretty sunset on the way home though.
